Students Receive Awards for Research and Projects (Fall, 2006)
Several DePauw students and their collaborators were recognized for outstanding undergraduate research and project work which they presented at conferences during the fall 2006 semester. DePauw University's senior Computer Science major, Olufisayo Oluwadiya, won the Best Technical Poster award at the 2006 Midwest Celebration of Women in Computing (MidWIC) conference (see photo). Her project, "Company-In-A-Box (CIB)" is a software application that helps startup companies with basic technology needs. DePauw University senior Frank Fearington, together with Stan Park (Truman State University), won second place in an undergraduate research poster competition held at the 2006 Computer Science in Colleges: Midwest Conference. The team's project was entitled "Migraine Detection through Analysis of EEG Signals" and was completed with the guidance of former DePauw Computer Science faculty member Kelly Van Busum. At the same conference, DePauw University junior Christine Lewellen, together with Cody Baker (Hiram College), won third place for their project entitled "Automatically Calculating Genetic Relevance". This project was completed under the guidance of DePauw Computer Science Faculty member Scott Thede. See photographs from these events here.
