Faculty Development Grant Awarded to Develop an Artificial Intelligence Textbook (Spring, 2008)

Scott Thede, Associate Professor of Computer Science, has been awarded a summer stipend to support his work on developing a new text book for teaching Artificial Intelligence. Professor Thede has been teaching DePauw’s upper-level Artificial Intelligence course since he arrived at DePauw in 1999. More recently, Professor Thede has developed an innovative and popular general education course named "Can Computers Think?" Students in this course may not have had any prior computer science background, yet they are able to learn about important contemporary issues related to Artificial Intelligence. Professor Thede hopes to pilot selections from his new text with his students at DePauw during the 2008-2009 academic year.
