I saw CS as a field that would allow me to combine my enjoyment of solving puzzles/problem solving along with some of my more creative interests. Along with that, computers and computer programs are used in almost every discipline, so I saw this as an ideal subject that would allow me the flexibility to continually experience new challenges. The thing I like most about CS is probably that there are continually varying challenges--whether its creating a graphical solitaire program, writing my own web server and client, writing AI to play a simple game, designing an interface with minds to both baisc aesthetics as well as ease of use, or helping another department solve a problem. Besides getting me work both on and off campus, CS has also taught me valuable problem solving skills that I can apply to other classes as well as to life. Doing research in CS has also gotten me interested in research in general, which in turn got me interested in going to graduate school.
